Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Allan Bautista! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ritsuko Asuke! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bautista shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Asuke but Asuke pushes him off and we're back to square one. Bautista shoots for a takedown but Asuke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Bautista looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Allan Bautista. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bautista bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Bautista shoots for a takedown but Asuke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Asuke lands a glancing blow to the side of Bautista's head. Bautista forces Asuke back against the ropes and clinches. Bautista struggles to land a body shot inside as Asuke controls his hands.
Asuke successfully pulls guard.
Bautista wants to stand and escape but instead Asuke has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Asuke trying to control but Bautista is working from the bottom. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bautista has a closed guard, preventing Asuke from standing up. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asuke is stalling in the full guard. Asuke trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bautista's guard. Asuke passes Bautista's left leg - he's now in half guard. Bautista looks like he's trying to stand up.
Asuke is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bautista sees it coming and defends easily. Asuke is looking to take a break and control but Bautista is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bautista on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bautista tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Asuke gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Bautista shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Asuke but Asuke pushes him off and we're back to square one. Asuke works over Bautista's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Allan Bautista has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Asuke connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Bautista to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Asuke!
