The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Van Der Hoef enables Samuelsson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van Der Hoef manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Shane Samuelsson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Samuelsson tries to bum rush Van Der Hoef with a series of wild strikes but Van Der Hoef uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Van Der Hoef wants to clinch.
Van Der Hoef fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Samuelsson.

Van Der Hoef stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Van Der Hoef wants it to stay on the feet.

Van Der Hoef rushes Samuelsson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Samuelsson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Van Der Hoefs head.

Van Der Hoef's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Van Der Hoef tries to clinch but Samuelsson is having none of it.

Samuelsson throws a hook to the side of Van Der Hoef's head but Van Der Hoef sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Samuelsson lands with an uppercut that bounces Van Der Hoef off the cage and back into rage.

Van Der Hoef lands a big head kick that sends Samuelsson tumbling to the mat! Van Der Hoef takes a step backwards and waves Samuelsson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Van Der Hoef dips a shoulder and cracks Samuelsson with a mighty uppercut! Samuelsson falls back against the cage and Van Der Hoef unloads with a barrage of strikes! Samuelsson is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Van Der Hoef screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
