Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Oaken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Danny Oaken has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Oaken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Sherk! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oaken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sherk but Sherk pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sherk scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sherk trying to control the position but Oaken is working away. Sherk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oaken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sherk lands some shots froms side control. Sherk is looking to take a break and control but Oaken is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sherk is putting a hurting on Oaken here, landing some big shots from side control. Sherk creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Oaken sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Sherk looks gassed! Oaken is looking for a sweep. Oaken can't do much from the bottom here. Sherk avoids the strikes from the bottom by Oaken. Sherk tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Sherk fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Oaken shoots in and drives through. Sherk sprawls well. Oaken tries to clinch but Sherk moves out of range. Oaken tries to clinch up but Sherk circles away and keeps his distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sherk scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sherk trying to control the action but Oaken is working from the bottom. Oaken is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sherk has just dragged him back down to the mat. Sherk moves into full mount! Sherk punching from mount but Oaken doing a good job of avoiding damage. Poor strikes thrown by Sherk there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Oaken is in a horrible position here. Sherk smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sherk working away from the top, dropping strikes. Oaken is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherk cracks Oaken with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sherk prevents Oaken from getting the reversal. Oaken bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Sherk wants to sweep here but Oaken controlling him for the moment. Oaken postures up.
Sherk wants to sweep but no luck. Oaken trying to control but Sherk is working from the bottom. Sherk tries to land a sweep but no joy. Oaken trying to control the position from guard on top but Sherk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sherk striking from the bottom.
Sherk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sherk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Oaken sprawls well initially but Sherk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherk is working for a submission of some sort.
Oaken is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Sherk pulls his head out easily. Oaken is looking to escape. Sherk wants to control but Oaken is keeping him busy. Oaken moves into full guard.
Sherk is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Oaken looking to control.
Sherk seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sherk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Oaken is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherk is staying active underneath Oaken, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are battling for position here. Sherk manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Oaken trying to control but Sherk is working from the bottom. Sherk will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Oaken wants to stand but Sherk has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Oaken stopping the sweep attempt from Sherk. Oaken forces his way into half guard. Sherk is trying to get back to full guard. Sherk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sherk keeping moving, preventing Oaken from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Sherk dominated that round. That's time! Oaken's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Oaken is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A head kick misses from Oaken. Oaken with a poor takedown and Sherk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Oaken looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sherk is pushing down on Oaken's leg trying to pass to half guard. Oaken is fighting to maintain full guard but Sherk has managed to sneak the leg through. Oaken wants to control but Sherk is keeping busy and won't allow it. Oaken punching from the bottom.
Sherk missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Oaken makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Oaken. Oaken trying to control the position.
Oaken doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sherk stops Oaken from standing up. Oaken looking to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Oaken shoots and misses and Sherk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Oaken won't be happy with that. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Oaken is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oaken is trying to control Sherk's posture but Sherk avoids it. Sherk wants to control but Oaken is keeping him busy. Oaken regains half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Oaken manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sherk working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Oaken looking for a sweep. Not yet Oaken, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sherk sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Oaken doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Sherk paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Oaken - great work!
