PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amir Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Martin Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Amir Khan!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hawk slips a jab and a cross from Khan.
Hawk tries to move into range but Khan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Sloppy strikes from Khan. Those never looked like landing.
Hawk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khan's waist but Khan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hawk off to one side.
Khan throws a nice looking combination but Hawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Khan throws a right and a left that Hawk avoids nicely.
A shot to the liver by Khan. Beautiful body shot.
Khan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Khan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Khan leaves Hawk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Khan lands a nice looking body shot.
Khan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Khan wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Hawk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hawk.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khan but Khan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Khan works Hawk's body with a nice hook.
Khan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hawk at a distance.
Khan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Khan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Khan cracks a nice hook into Hawk's ribs.
Khan misses with a series of wild punches.
Hawk needs to keep his hands up - Khan had a free shot at his head there.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hawk looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A left and a right from Khan both land. Nice combination.
Khan lands with a good body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hawk backs up against the cage.
Horrible takedown by Hawk or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan which made him look bad.
Khan scores with a one two! Hawk had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Amir Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Khan stuffs the takedown.
Khan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hawk at a distance.

Hawk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Khan is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hawk thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Hawk throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Khan because Hawk loaded up on that one.

Hawk landing strikes, looking to finish!

Hawk quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Hawk but it's paid off an Khan is forced to tap! Nice work by Hawk.
