The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason looks to land a left hand but Michaels moved out of range nicely.
Michaels showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mason.
Michaels lands with a kick to the temple. Mason shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Malcolm Mason has been cut.
Mason throws a series of punches but Michaels avoids them all with ease.
Mason swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mason throws a left and a right that both miss
and Michaels counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mason misses with a left hand
and Michaels counters with a head kick that drops Mason to the mat! Mason scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Mason is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mason drops his hands for a split second and Michaels immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Mason face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Michaels follows up with a right hand that knocks Mason into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Michaels! John Michaels retains his heavyweight title!
