Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rolando Souto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Campana!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campana displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Souto.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Souto is defended easily by Campana.
Campana tries to land a front kick but Souto steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Rolando Souto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Souto takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Campana fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Souto to the ground. Campana is now in Souto's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Campana scoring with some ground and pound.
Campana trying to control but Souto is working from the bottom.
Souto is trying to control the position but Campana postures up.
Campana works over Souto with some ground and pound from guard.
Souto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Campana is one step ahead there.

Campana lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Campana trying to control the position from guard on top but Souto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Campana slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Campana makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Campana with a flurry of punches that miss.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Campana accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Campana throws a big right hand that misses.
Campana is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that Campana has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Campana wants to control from the top but Souto keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dean Campana was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Campana feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Soutos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Campana lands with a thumping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Souto.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rolando Souto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Souto on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Souto is breathing heavily.
Souto wants to clinch.
Campana delivers a nice body kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Campana throws a series of punches but Souto moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Souto enables Campana to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Souto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Campana working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Campana is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Campana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Souto is keeping the position for now.
Souto wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Campana manages to pass to side control.
Campana missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Campana has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Campana lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Campana content to control rather than advance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Campana is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Campana dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Campana counters with a solid body kick.
Campana connects with a nice looking jab.
Dean Campana seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Campana lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Campana attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
That kick from Campana tenderised Souto's leg. Souto is trying to keep his angry face on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Souto fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rolando Souto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Campana closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Souto did well to prevent Campana getting side control.
Ground and pound from Campana.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Campana scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Campana is controlling the pace.

Campana is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Campana thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Souto's head.
Campana seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Souto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Souto has a hand on Campana's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Campana takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Campana fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Campana lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Campana lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Souto hang on?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Campana is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Souto can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Campana wants to control the pace but Souto is squirming around nicely.
Campana lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Souto hang on?


Souto is rocked!
Campana takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Souto is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Campana drops a big elbow. That's hurt Souto! More shots from Campana and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
