PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kodarc Beastmaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kodarc Beastmaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Richard James!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beastmaster avoids a punch combination nicely.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Beastmaster moves away.
Beastmaster showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from James.

Beastmaster gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Beastmaster doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Beastmaster wants a takedown.
James is trying to break the clinch but Beastmaster has him pressed against the cage.
Beastmaster throws a punch but it's blocked by James.
James tries to break free but Beastmaster pushes him back against the cage.
Beastmaster misses with a punch to the body.
Beastmaster lands with a short shot to the head.


It looks like Richard James has been cut.

Beastmaster is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. James can't fight it off and eventually Beastmaster manages to take the fight to the floor. James looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Beastmaster with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James trying to keep a closed guard but Beastmaster is proving a slippery customer.
Beastmaster is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Beastmaster trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
Beastmaster pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Beastmaster stands up over James, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Beastmaster connects with a couple of short punches.


That has opened up Richard James's cut even more.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Beastmaster throwing strikes from guard but James blocks nicely.
Beastmaster working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
James thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Beastmaster wants to control but James is having none of it.
Beastmaster manages to regain half guard. Good work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Beastmaster looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beastmaster gets full guard.

Beastmaster is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Beastmaster is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and James defends well.

James throwing strikes but missing.

Beastmaster wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Beastmaster is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.
James throws a strike but Beastmaster rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Beastmaster missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Beastmaster working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Beastmaster postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.


The cut above Richard James's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Beastmaster distracts James with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kodarc Beastmaster dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Richard James's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Beastmaster scores with a shot to the body.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Richard James's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kodarc Beastmaster!
