The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bach jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Bach fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alves shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bach but Bach pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bach throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Alves sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bach looks to throw the jab but Alves is out of range.
Alves gets the takedown into side control.
Alves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Alves connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bach some visible discomfort.
Alves looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alves is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Bach looks calm but he's in trouble here. Alves gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Bach is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Alves lets go of the hold and Bach can pop his arm back in it's socket.
