Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Ess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Rehlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Ess! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gunnar Rehlin! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rehlin drives through with a takedown into guard. Ess trying to strike off his back.
Rehlin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ess will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rehlin works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ess taking some punishment here, with Rehlin in his half guard. Ess wants to get back to full guard but Rehlin has passed into side control. Ess is looking to get to half guard. Rehlin scoring with strikes but Ess is staying in there. Rehlin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Ess gets back to half guard. Rehlin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Ess taking some punishment here, with Rehlin in his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rehlin passes to side control. Ess tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rehlin trying to control the position but Ess is working away. Rehlin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ess tries to buck Rehlin off but Rehlin is having none of it. Rehlin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ess down.
Ess regains half guard. Rehlin is pressing down on Ess's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ess is holding on for now. Ess avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rehlin. Rehlin wants to free his trapped foot but Ess is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ess looking for submissions off his back. Ess won't allow Rehlin to pass to mount. Rehlin looks gassed! Ess makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ess. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rehlin stands up from Ess's guard - Rehlin perhaps looking for a knockout. Ess doesn't succeed with the takedown so Rehlin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rehlin throwing strikes but missing. Rehlin throwing strikes but missing. Ess looking for a sweep. Not yet Ess, not yet. Ess knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rehlin on the ground. Ess preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ess thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Ess looking for a sweep. Not yet Ess, not yet. Rehlin slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Ess. Rehlin throwing shots but Ess is blocking nicely.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Ess misses with a takedown so Rehlin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ess looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rehlin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rehlin passes Ess's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rehlin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ess is not content to let Rehlin control the position. Rehlin moves into full mount! Ess won't be happy about that! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rehlin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ess has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ess regains half guard. Rehlin slips a nice elbow through Ess's hands, connecting with Ess's forehead. Ess is defending against the submission attempts here by Rehlin.
Rehlin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ess on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ess tries to get out of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rehlin working Ess over with strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! Rehlin working over Ess with some ground and pound. Ess looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ess is looking for a sweep. Rehlin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rehlin drops an elbow to the side of Ess's head. Ess tries to roll over but Rehlin keeps him under control. Rehlin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Rehlin is looking to take a break and control but Ess is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rehlin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rehlin throws a strike but Ess avoids it easily and moves to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ess working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rehlin. Ess trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Ess thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gunnar Rehlin dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Rehlin shoots and misses and Ess counters with a takedown into side control. Rehlin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ess's best efforts. Ess working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ess lands with a punch from half guard. Rehlin is holding on to half guard well. Rehlin tries to roll over but Ess keeps him under control. Ground and pound from Ess. Rehlin trying to hold on to Ess's head to control him but Ess postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rehlin is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Ess pulls his head out easily. Rehlin is looking to improve his position.
Ess wants to get back to his feet.
Rehlin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ess scores with a couple of nice shots. Rehlin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ess is looking to advance position but Rehlin won't allow it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rehlin with a lazy takedown attempt and Ess counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Rehlin manages to regain full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rehlin is on top in guard.
Rehlin landing some decent shots from guard. Ess is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rehlin manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rehlin with a lazy takedown attempt and Ess decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rehlin's guard. Peter Ess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Rehlin. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rehlin working for a triangle but Ess defends it easily.
Ess sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rehlin's guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ess connects with a nice short shot to Rehlin's temple. Rehlin trying to control here.
Ground and pound from Ess. Ess scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Rehlin gets full guard. Rehlin wants to sweep but no luck. Ess pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rehlin is keeping the position for now. Ess is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ess is working Rehlin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Ess is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Rehlin keeping moving, preventing Ess from controlling successfully. Ess has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rehlin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Rehlin cracks Ess with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Ess is rocked! Oooooh, big shot lands for Rehlin! Ess is hurt baaadly! Rehlin is firing away with more strikes - Ess is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
