The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gibbs drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Aoki is looking to reverse the position.
Gibbs goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Aoki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gibbs but great work by Aoki.
The strikes coming from Aoki are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gibbs wants to control but Aoki postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aoki has hold of Gibbs's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gibbs tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Aoki cranks the arm and Gibbs screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gibbs, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
