Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Bensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Mooney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mooney has chosen Rahu ainult rahu as his entrance music. Tom Bensen could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tommy Mooney's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tom Bensen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Mooney! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mooney fails with a takedown attempt. Bensen works over Mooney's head and body with a nice combination. Bensen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mooney napping and manages to drive through into side control! Mooney is pushing Bensen's head away, looking to escape. Bensen manages to hold on to the position though. Mooney is looking for a sweep. Bensen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Bensen decides to stand back up. Bensen steps back and let's Mooney get back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Mooney drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Mooney doesn't manage to clinch there - Bensen circles away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Mooney enables Bensen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mooney manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Bensen's corner is telling him to maintain position. Bensen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mooney throws the left hand but Bensen avoids the punch easily. Mooney tries to clinch up. Mooney tries to sprawl but Bensen drives through with a takedown into half guard. Bensen is taking a breather. Mooney says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Mooney is trying to stand back up but Bensen is controlling him
Bensen gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Mooney tries to clinch up and Bensen counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mooney keeping full guard, as Bensen tries to pass. Bensen won't allow Mooney to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mooney is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bensen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Mooney looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bensen passes into side control.
Bensen decides to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bensen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mooney is trying to escape the position but Bensen is controlling the position. Mooney is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Bensen tries to advance to mount but can't. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bensen just content to control the position. Mooney struggling a bit here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bensen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mooney to his feet. Bensen lands with a hook. Mooney tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Bensen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mooney but Mooney pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mooney misses with the combination.
This has been an exciting period of action! Bensen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mooney defends it nicely. Bensen is breathing heavily. Mooney swinging wildly here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bensen fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mooney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bensen circles away quickly and effectively. Mooney lands a really nice looking cross but Bensen seems unphased.

Bensen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mooney is trying to keep an underhook but Bensen manages to get the takedown into half guard. Bensen keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Bensen is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mooney!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mooney is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Mooney is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mooney is breathing heavily. Bensen content just to control the position here. Mooney really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Bensen unloading with bombs! Bensen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bensen gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Bensen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mooney tries to avoid it but Bensen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mooney to the ground. Mooney escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mooney fails to land with a series of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mooney misses with a two punch combination.
Mooney misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bensen scores with a jab. Mooney takes a head kick and keeps coming.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mooney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bensen circles away quickly and effectively. Mooney shoots in but no luck this time. Bensen drives through with a takedown into guard. Bensen controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bensen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Bensen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mooney's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bensen is stalling in the full guard. Mooney looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mooney wants to stand but Bensen is controlling the position. Bensen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Bensen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mooney for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tom Bensen just wasn't active enough. Mooney looks to clinch and Bensen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bensen is pressing down on Mooney's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mooney is holding on for now. Mooney tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Bensen wants to pass the guard but Mooney is defending well. Bensen stands up from half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mooney cracks Bensen with a right hand to the side of the head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mooney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bensen paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mooney stalks Bensen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bensen's face. Bensen staggers backwards, shaken. Mooney tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Bensen dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Mooney shoots in but Bensen avoids the takedown attempt easily. Bensen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mooney's guard. Bensen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Bensen has a takedown stuffed. Bensen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mooney.
Bensen moves out of range of the body kick. Bensen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mooney can do to turn this around? Bensen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mooney did well to prevent Bensen getting side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bensen decides to return to a standing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bensen swats away the attempt to clinch by Mooney. Bensen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mooney moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mooney shoots for a takedown but Bensen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mooney throws a body kick that misses. Mooney throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A head kick misses from Mooney. Bensen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bensen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ground and pound from Bensen. Mooney tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Bensen prevents Mooney from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mooney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bensen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Bensen is looking to advance position but Mooney won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tom Bensen. Nice shot lands for Mooney. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bensen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Bensen passes to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mooney is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Bensen lands a nice shot to the head. Mooney tries to reverse the position but Bensen maintains control. Bensen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mooney defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bensen. Mooney is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mooney bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Mooney gets to his feet. Bensen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Mooney tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bensen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mooney swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tom Bensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bensen clinches up against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mooney just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bensen's brow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mooney can't get the takedown.
Tom Bensen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Mooney. Mooney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tommy Mooney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tom Bensen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mooney has Bensen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bensen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Bensen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bensen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
