Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Meed is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griffin is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin trying to control the position from guard on top but Meed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Griffin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Meed fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Meed has picked Griffin up - he's going for a ride! Meed dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Meed wants to stand but Griffin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Griffin tries to get to full guard but Meed has control of the leg.
Griffin is looking to control Meed's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffin avoid being mounted?

OK we're going to have a standup here. Peter Griffin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there.
Griffin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Griffin is looking for a kimura but Meed is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Griffin to get the leverage.
Griffin wants to advance to full mount but Meed doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Griffin wants to stand and escape but instead Meed has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Meed gets to his feet. Griffin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Meed has Griffin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Meed pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Griffin tumbling to the mat - Meed dives into Griffin's guard.

Meed stands up from Griffin's guard - Meed perhaps looking for a knockout.
Meed slips a jab and a cross from Griffin.
Griffin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Griffin shoots in looking for a takedown. Meed tries to sprawl out of it but Griffin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meed manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Meed is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Griffin can't fight it off and eventually Meed manages to take the fight to the floor. Griffin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Griffin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Meed avoids it really well and circles away.

David Meed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meed closes the distance and pushes Griffin back into the cage.
Meed tries to score a body lock takedown but Griffin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Griffin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Meed walks away with a smile on his face. Griffin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fight stays on the outside here - Meed looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Meed tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Griffin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Griffin swats away the attempt to clinch by Meed.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

David Meed showed his dominance in that final round.
