Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maurice Sullivan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sullivan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sullivan wants to control but Edwards postures up.
Edwards sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sullivan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Edwards is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Sullivan gets his way!

Edwards wants to take a breather but Sullivan is having none of it.

Sullivan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Edwards manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sullivan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Edwards is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Sullivan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Edwards throws a left that rocks Sullivan and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Edwards dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Sullivan regain composure!

We're going to have a standup here because Maurice Sullivan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Edwards tries to bum rush Sullivan with a series of wild strikes but Sullivan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Edwards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sullivan defends it nicely.

Sullivan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Edwards is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Edwards is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
