PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nek Olob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Schnieder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nek Olob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Schnieder!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olob looks to clinch

and Schnieder counters with a shoot takedown. Olob fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Olob avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Schnieder slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Olob on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Olob tries to get out of the position.
Olob is breathing heavily.
Schnieder with a nice head shot there.
Schnieder engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Schnieder stands and throws Olob's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Olob is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Schnieder is controlling him well.

The referee asks Schnieder politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Schnieder prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schnieder's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Olob knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schnieder on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Schnieder was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Schnieder shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Well, if Schnieder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Schnieder uses his free foot to push down on Olob's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Olob.

Schnieder postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Olob looks a forlorn figure.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schnieder jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Olob manages to avoid the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Schnieder shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Olob pinned against the cage. Olob gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Olob pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Schnieder back to the cage. Olob follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Olob tries to bum rush Schnieder with a series of wild strikes but Schnieder uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Schnieder drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Olob wants to break free but Schnieder has control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Schnieder is trying to drag Olob to the mat but Olob just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Nek Olob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Schnieder.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Schnieder lands a nice short elbow.
Schnieder perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Schnieder is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Olob will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Check out the look on Schnieder's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Schnieder has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Olob is in a horrible position here. Schnieder smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Schnieder connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Schnieder takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Schnieder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
