Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sierra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Sierra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Thompson! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson looks to land a combination. Sierra sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Thompson throws a right and a left that both miss. Sierra looking to score a takedown here. Thompson is defending well but Sierra drives through and ends up in Thompson's guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Thompson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Thompson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sierra is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Sierra connects with a couple of short punches. Thompson keeping moving, preventing Sierra from controlling successfully. Sierra pushes down on Thompson's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sierra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Frank Sierra just wasn't active enough. Sierra tries a head kick but it misses.
Thompson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Sierra moves into the clinch successfully.
Sierra is working for takedown but Thompson is calmly controlling the position for now. Thompson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sierra.

Sierra looks for a takedown but Thompson sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Sierra. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thompson throws a series of punches but Sierra avoids them all with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sierra shoots in but no luck this time. Thompson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jack Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sierra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thompson but Thompson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sierra has a takedown stuffed. Thompson throws a looping overhand right but Sierra ducks down to avoid it. Sierra misses with a body shot.
Sierra tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sierra looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Thompson throws a right and a left that both miss. A punch combination from Thompson misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sierra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Still in half guard, Sierra seems content to control. Sierra has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Frank Sierra just wasn't active enough. Sierra walks into a stiff left hand from Thompson. Sierra tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thompson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sierra somewhat. Thompson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sierra.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thompson throws a series of punches but Sierra moves out of range. Thompson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Thompson works the jab nicely. Sierra avoids a kick to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Thompson. No joy for Sierra on that attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thompson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson can't keep his opponent in guard - Sierra advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Sierra content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sierra seems to be working for a kimura but Thompson defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Sierra dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sierra throws a sloppy head kick and Thompson moves out of range easily. Thompson misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice sprawl there from Thompson as Sierra shoots in. Thompson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sierra stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Thompson leaves Sierra with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Thompson throws a leg kick that misses. Sloppy strikes from Thompson. Those never looked like landing. Thompson throws a leg kick and Sierra moves into the clinch. Sierra is trying to trip Thompson. He has hold of a leg but Thompson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sierra persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Thompson looking for a sweep. Not yet Thompson, not yet. Sierra gets to his feet - Thompson follows without any prompting.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson tries to bum rush Sierra with a series of wild strikes but Sierra uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sierra gets a clinch. Sierra is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Thompson pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Sierra. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thompson is pressed up against the cage. Sierra has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thompson down to the mat. Thompson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. No joy there for Sierra, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

No luck for Sierra with that takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sierra shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Sierra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sierra tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thompson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Thompson misses with a hook. Sierra drops his hands momentarily and Thompson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Thompson thows a body shot but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Thompson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sierra. Sierra takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sierra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thompson wants to control the action here but instead Sierra manages to pass to full mount! Sierra trying to control but he's not successful this time. Sierra lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thompson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Sierra. Thompson is looking to improve his position but Sierra isn't that keen on the idea.

Sierra wants to control the pace but Thompson is squirming around nicely. Sierra has hold of Thompson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thompson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sierra landing strikes from the mount. Frank Sierra overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sierra controlling from the full mount. Sierra lands a big elbow. Sierra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sierra looking to control but Thompson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sierra working Thompson over with strikes here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Thompson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Frank Sierra dominated that second round. That's time! Sierra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Sierra fails with a takedown attempt. Sierra walks into a left hand. Jack Thompson seems to be getting the better of the standup. Thompson throws a right and a left that Sierra avoids nicely. Sierra has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thompson uses from the top position. Sierra pulls Thompson in to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sierra looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thompson is one step ahead there. Sierra bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thompson's guard. Sierra trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thompson looking to control.
Sierra stands and throws Thompson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sierra scores with a couple of short elbows. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thompson can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Sierra are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Sierra trying to control the position but Thompson is working away. Thompson is trying to escape the position but Sierra is controlling the position. Sierra scoring with punches from side control. Sierra happy to just control the position for now. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thompson can't do much from the bottom here. Sierra is chipping away with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sierra is working Thompson over with some ground and pound from side control. Sierra grinds an elbow into Thompson's temple. Sierra slows the pace down. Sierra in side control lands a decent elbow. Sierra cracks Thompson with an elbow. That is naaassty. Sierra is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thompson can do to turn this around? Sierra controls the position from side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sierra's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Frank Sierra is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sierra works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. A lull in the action here as Sierra stalls from top position. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sierra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sierra tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sierra has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sierra controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Frank Sierra showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sierra, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
