PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eikichi Onizuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eikichi Onizuka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Boxer!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Onizuka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boxer but Boxer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Boxer throws a shot from downtown. Onizuka moves away and avoids it.
Boxer with a nice cross.
Boxer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boxer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Onizuka is breathing heavily.
Onizuka throws a series of strikes that have Boxer backpedaling.
Boxer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Onizuka ducks straight into an uppercut from Boxer and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Onizuka manages to regain guard straight away.

Onizuka is rocked!
Onizuka preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Oh Onizuka is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Boxer stands up over Onizuka, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boxer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boxer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boxer looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Let's hope that Boxer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Onizuka on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Onizuka tries to get out of the position.
Boxer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Onizuka's guard.
Onizuka seems to have got his legs back now.
Boxer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Boxer drops an elbow to the side of Onizuka's head.
Boxer throwing shots but Onizuka is blocking nicely.
Boxer is controlling the pace.

Boxer stands up and beckons Onizuka to join him on the feet.

Boxer drops Onizuka with a beautiful combination! Onizuka stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Boxer is looking for the KO!

It looks like Eikichi Onizuka has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Some wild striking there from Boxer.
Boxer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Onizuka circles away quickly and effectively.
Onizuka shoots in for a takedown but Boxer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Boxer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Boxer stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Onizuka to get to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boxer goes for a small jab and connects. Now Boxer goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Onizuka stumbles back but Boxer runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Onizuka to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Onizuka will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joe Boxer!
