Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinto Connor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Barrett! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Connor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barrett's waist but Barrett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Connor off to one side. Horrible takedown by Barrett or perhaps it was just good defense by Connor which made him look bad. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Barrett. Connor throws a head kick that misses. Connor tries to bum rush Barrett with a series of wild strikes but Barrett uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Barrett scores a takedown into full mount! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Barrett is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Connor has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Barrett tries to control but Connor wriggling away. Barrett mounts Connor! Really nice guard pass there! Connor is desperately trying to improve his position but Barrett has a good base and remains in mount. Barrett blocks Connor's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barrett prevents Connor from getting the reversal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barrett mounts Connor! Really nice guard pass there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Barrett manages to capitalize on a mistake by Connor to take his back! Barrett is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Connor with him. Connor is trying to defend but Barrett has an arm under the chin now! Connor grimaces and is forced to tap out!
