Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Waleed Malik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malik kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Can't Be Touched. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Waleed Malik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Rua! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Malik which made him look bad. Malik slips a jab and a cross from Rua.
Malik throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rua counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Malik's guard now. Rua passes Malik's left leg - he's now in half guard. Malik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rua on the ground. Malik pushes Rua off looking to stand but Rua dives back in and keeps control.
Rua is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Malik looks like he's trying to stand up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rua is working for a kimura but Malik is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rua sitting and controlling from the half guard. Rua tries to pass the half guard into mount. Malik knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Rua seems to be looking for submissions.
Malik has one foot on Rua's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rua moves into full mount! Malik won't be happy about that! Rua is working for a guillotine from mount but Malik frees his head quite easily.
Malik is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Rua wants to finish this one by submission but Malik is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rua.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Malik bucks up and throws Rua to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Rua has a takedown stuffed. Rua takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Malik tries to close the distance and clinch but Rua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Waleed Malik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rua shoots for a double leg takedown but Malik sprawls well. He's pushed Rua's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Waleed Malik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Rua. Malik wants to clinch. Malik throws a head kick but Rua moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua avoids the head kick by Malik.
A punch combination from Malik misses. Malik is looking to clinch. Rua is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Malik's half guard. Rua is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Malik defends it well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Malik keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauricio Rua dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Rua tries for a takedown but Malik circles away easily and Malik counters with a low kick, right behind Rua 's knee. Malik moves into the clinch successfully.
Malik breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Malik tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rua swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rua moves out of range as Malik throws a body kick.
Malik gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Malik on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Malik tries to get out of the position. Rua stops Malik from standing up. Rua pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Malik is keeping the position for now. Rua is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Malik is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Malik has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Malik stands up from Rua's guard - Malik perhaps looking for a knockout. Rua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Malik tries to avoid it but Rua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Malik to the ground. Malik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Malik waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rua. Malik drops Rua with a beautiful combination! Rua stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Malik is looking for the KO! Rua is breathing heavily. Malik tries to clinch but Rua is having none of it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head kick misses from Malik. Waleed Malik is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A combination from Malik does no damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Malik lands a big head kick that sends Rua tumbling to the mat! Malik takes a step backwards and waves Rua back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Rua is rocked! Malik feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Rua collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Waleed Malik!
