The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard throws a shot from downtown. Alvarez moves away and avoids it.
Howard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Howard throws a nice outside leg kick.
Alvarez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Howard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Alvarez misses with a wild combination.
Howard lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Howard has taken the fight to the clinch.
Howard landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Howard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Alvarez uses from the top position.
Howard has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Alvarez doesn't defend quickly enough and Howard has managed to lock this one up! Can Alvarez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Howard on a fantastic submission victory.
