Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Vladikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Woods looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gregg Vladikov!
The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vladikov doesn't manage to clinch there - Woods circles away.
Vladikov fails with the takedown.
Woods fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vladikov throws a sloppy head kick and Woods moves out of range easily.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Vladikov has eaten all the pies!

and Vladikov counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Woods looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Woods keeping busy on the bottom but Vladikov has passed one foot through into half guard.
Vladikov is pressing down on Woods's thigh, looking to free his foot. Woods is holding on for now.

Woods is breathing heavily.
Vladikov prevents Woods from improving his position.

Woods with the active half guard here but Vladikov passes nicely into side control.
Vladikov wants to control but Woods is keeping him busy.
Woods manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vladikov pushes Woods off and gets back to his feet.
Vladikov wants to clinch.
Vladikov tries to close the distance and clinch but Woods swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Vladikov clinches up with Woods and pushes him back against the cage.

Woods ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Woods no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Vladikov gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Vladikov misses with a takedown

and Woods counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vladikov's guard now.

Vladikov wants to stand but Woods is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woods wants to pass the guard but Vladikov is keeping the position.
Vladikov wants to get back to his feet but Woods is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Woods drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Woods jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Woods will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vladikov wriggles free and stands up.
Vladikov takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Woods darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Woods moves nicely into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Woods tries for a kimura but Vladikov is defending well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Woods is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vladikov has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vladikov wants to control but Woods postures up.

Woods working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Vladikov is trying to buck Woods off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Woods will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

so Woods counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Woods stops Vladikov from standing up.
Vladikov controlling the position.
Woods prevents Vladikov from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vladikov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Woods pushes down on Vladikov's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Woods wants to free his trapped foot but Vladikov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vladikov wants to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Woods shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Vladikov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Vladikov with a knee to the head.
Woods jumps guard but Vladikov stands there with Woods around his waist. Woods gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Woods tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Woods changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Vladikov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Vladikov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Vladikov counters by moving into the clinch.
Vladikov goes for a takedown attempt but Woods pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Woods avoids the head kick by Vladikov.
Woods looks to land a combination. Vladikov sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Vladikov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Woods is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Woods forces his way into half guard.

Woods is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vladikov is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Woods!
