Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steev Izzerman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Ellenberger! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellenberger just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab lands there for Ellenberger.
It looks like Steev Izzerman has been cut. Ellenberger throws a jab but it's blocked by Izzerman. Ellenberger lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Izzerman at a distance.
Ellenberger misses the jab. Ellenberger thows a body shot but no joy. Ellenberger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ellenberger scores with the left hand. Izzerman knows he should have avoided that one. Ellenberger connects with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellenberger takes a swing at Izzerman's ribcage but misses. Ellenberger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Izzerman manages to avoid it. Ellenberger lands a jab to the nose. Ellenberger lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Ellenberger throws a big shot that misses. Ellenberger thows a left - swing and a miss! Ellenberger throws the left hand but Izzerman avoids the punch easily. Izzerman fails with the takedown and Ellenberger counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Ellenberger. Ellenberger takes a swing at Izzerman's ribcage but misses. Ellenberger lands a really nice looking cross but Izzerman seems unphased.
Izzerman blocks a jab. Izzerman has his takedown stuffed and Ellenberger counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Izzerman tries for a takedown but Ellenberger circles away easily and Izzerman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steev Izzerman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ellenberger uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Izzerman ducks under a wild hook from Ellenberger. Ellenberger pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Ellenberger clobbers Izzerman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Ellenberger jabs Izzerman right on the nose. Izzerman blinks but takes it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Izzerman defending well as Ellenberger loads up on a big left hand. Izzerman has his takedown stuffed and Ellenberger counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Steev Izzerman's cut is getting worse. Ellenberger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Izzerman moves away. Ellenberger connects with a looping right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ellenberger misses with a hook. Ellenberger misses with a looping left. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Ellenberger dominated that round. The cut man is working on Steev Izzerman's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Izzerman has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Izzerman there as he acknowledges the shot. Izzerman tries for a takedown but Ellenberger sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. The fighters circling - Ellenberger throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Izzerman misses with a takedown attempt - Ellenberger sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Izzerman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steev Izzerman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Izzerman tries to clinch but Ellenberger moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellenberger throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice jab there from Ellenberger. Izzerman on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Izzerman might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. A decent looking cross lands there for Ellenberger.
Steev Izzerman's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Ellenberger throws a good cross that connects.
Izzerman is rocked! Ellenberger thuds his right hand into Izzerman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Oh Izzerman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ellenberger cracks Izzerman with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Izzerman falls to his knees and Ellenberger doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Ellenberger!
