Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Nortick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Loveridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyle Nortick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Loveridge!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Loveridge closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Loveridge decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nortick to his feet.
Loveridge fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Loveridge lands with a kick to the ribs.
Nice takedown defense from Loveridge. No joy for Nortick on that attempt.

Loveridge clinches.
Nortick tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Loveridge lands a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Loveridge wants to stand but Nortick is controlling his posture from full guard.
Loveridge wants to control from the top but Nortick keeps moving.

Loveridge content to stall in guard here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Nortick is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Loveridge trying to control the position from guard on top but Nortick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ryan Loveridge wasn't active enough on the ground.

Loveridge clinches.
Nortick tries to pull guard but Loveridge won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Nortick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nortick jumps into guard, dragging Loveridge to the mat.
Nortick keeping moving, preventing Loveridge from controlling successfully.
Loveridge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nortick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Loveridge trying to control but Nortick is working from the bottom.
Loveridge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Loveridge loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Loveridge wants to control from the top but Nortick keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Loveridge was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Loveridge throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nortick was covering up waiting for the punch and Loveridge finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nortick is breathing heavily.
Loveridge looking to sit in guard and control but Nortick gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nortick scoring with some ground and pound.
Nortick might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Nortick postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Loveridge is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nortick, into his guard.
Loveridge passes Nortick's left leg - he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loveridge trying to control from Nortick's half guard. Nortick has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Loveridge dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Nortick enables Loveridge to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nortick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Loveridge trying to move into half guard but instead Nortick has managed to sweep!
Nortick working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Loveridge tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nortick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nortick thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nortick gets to his feet - Loveridge follows without any prompting.
Nortick takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Loveridge scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nortick takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Loveridge shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Loveridge can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nortick is looking to escape.
Ryan Loveridge has got the better of the ground game so far.
Loveridge looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Loveridge moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nortick has worked his arm free - good work by Nortick!
Nortick is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Loveridge performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ryan Loveridge hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Loveridge shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Loveridge gets to his feet - Nortick follows without any prompting.

Nortick tries to sprawl but Loveridge drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Loveridge wants to control from the top but Nortick keeps moving.
Loveridge is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Loveridge might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nortick kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ryan Loveridge.

Loveridge moves into range and clinches up with Nortick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loveridge is stalling here.

Loveridge lands a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Loveridge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Nortick's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Nortick on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Loveridge scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Loveridge is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Well, if Loveridge is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Loveridge is stalling here. Nortick is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Loveridge seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nortick has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Nortick looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Nortick thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nortick goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Loveridge rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nortick's guard! Nice work there by Loveridge!

Loveridge wanted to stand there but Nortick had control of the position.
Loveridge really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nortick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nortick is trying to control the position but Loveridge postures up.

Loveridge content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Nortick has locked up a guillotine! Nortick's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Loveridge is holding on here and Nortick must be using up a lot of energy. Loveridge has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Nortick gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
