Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Marquardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomek Wtorek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Marquardt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tomek Wtorek! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marquardt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marquardt jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Marquardt throws a series of strikes that have Wtorek backpedaling.
Wtorek gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Marquardt controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Marquardt wants to get up but he can't break Wtorek's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Wtorek keeping moving, preventing Marquardt from controlling successfully. Marquardt stopping the sweep attempt from Wtorek. Wtorek trying to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nate Marquardt wasn't doing enough on the ground. Marquardt tries to bum rush Wtorek with a series of wild strikes but Wtorek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Marquardt throws a right and a left that both miss. Marquardt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Marquardt swats away the attempt to clinch by Wtorek. Wtorek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Marquardt was covering up waiting for the punch and Wtorek finishes the takedown easily into guard. Wtorek wants to control from the top but Marquardt keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wtorek decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. The fight stays on the outside here - Wtorek looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Marquardt tries to bum rush Wtorek with a series of wild strikes but Wtorek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wtorek gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wtorek changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marquardt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nate Marquardt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marquardt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

This has been an exciting period of action! Sloppy strikes from Marquardt. Those never looked like landing. A head kick from Wtorek lands but Marquardt takes it in his stride. Wtorek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marquardt tries to avoid it but Wtorek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marquardt to the ground. Marquardt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wtorek moves into the clinch. Marquardt jumps guard and drags Wtorek to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wtorek being controlled here momentarily.

Marquardt keeping moving, preventing Wtorek from controlling successfully. Wtorek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wtorek looking to sit in guard and control but Marquardt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Marquardt trying to control but Wtorek is working from the bottom. That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Marquardt wants to stand but Wtorek is controlling his posture from full guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Marquardt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Marquardt connects with a crisp jab. Marquardt throws a nice looking combination but Wtorek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wtorek clinches. Marquardt gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wtorek regains guard.
Marquardt is breathing heavily. Wtorek trying to keep a closed guard but Marquardt is proving a slippery customer.

That was a close round but I would say that Nate Marquardt will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Marquardt pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Wtorek back to the cage. Marquardt follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Nate Marquardt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marquardt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wtorek is trying to control Marquardt's posture but Marquardt avoids it. Wtorek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

And that's the end of the fight! Nate Marquardt showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marquardt, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
