1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Payton! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Payton misses with a takedown and Brown counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Payton! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Payton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Brown get's back to his feet. Brown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Brown scores with a takedown into Payton's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Payton being controlled here, momentarily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Brown wants to control from the top but Payton keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Payton has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Brown off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Brown drives through with a takedown into Payton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Payton is retaining full guard. Brown postures up in Payton's guard and throws a big left but Payton blocks it. Payton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brown is one step ahead there. The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gary Payton wasn't active enough on the ground. Payton wants to clinch up but Brown keeps it at a distance. A head kick misses from Payton. Brown closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Payton's guard. Brown is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brown stands up over Payton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Brown controls from within his opponent's guard. Payton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Payton cracks Brown with a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Payton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brown defends it nicely. Payton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Brown gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Brown shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Payton keeps working. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brown is fighting to break Payton's control of his arms but Payton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Payton is trying to keep Brown in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Brown clinches up against the cage. Brown tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Payton smiles and moves away.
Payton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Payton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Payton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Payton shoots and misses and Brown counters with a slapping leg kick. Payton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Payton fails to land the takedown. Payton wants to clinch up but Brown keeps it at a distance. Payton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brown circles away quickly and effectively. Brown keeps the fight on the outside. Tommy Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Brown throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Payton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Payton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Payton off to one side. Payton throws a head kick that misses. Payton shoots in but Brown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown drives through and clinches with Payton against the cage.

Payton tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Brown breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Payton looks for a takedown but Brown sprawls well. Payton shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brown moves into the clinch. Brown works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Payton throws a lazy right hand but Brown sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Brown gets the takedown into side control. Tommy Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Payton sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Brown is working for a kimura but Payton is defending it quite comfortably.
Payton is looking for a sweep. Brown is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Brown gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Brown defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Payton.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brown showed some decent athleticism there. Payton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brown's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brown's back! Brown turns into Payton and is now in his guard.
Brown sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Payton's guard. Brown is trying to control. Payton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Brown is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Payton reverses the position - he's now on top in Brown's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Payton lands a couple of digs. Payton wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving. Payton drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Payton as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Brown screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Payton! Nice submission victory there!
