Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joaquin Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew McPain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joaquin Hansen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Hansen misses.
A head kick misses from Hansen.
Hansen throws a jab when McPain was well out of range.
McPain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hansen.
McPain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hansen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
McPain throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hansen throws a series of punches but McPain moves out of range.
Hansen tries to close the distance and clinch but McPain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A jab from Hansen misses.
McPain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hansen is fending him off so far but McPain persists. Nope, Hansen circles away and we're back to standing.
Joaquin Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew McPain.
McPain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hansen lands with an overhand left.
McPain is looking to chop away at Hansen's legs.
Matthew McPain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hansen lands with a cross.

Hansen gets caught flat footed, as McPain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hansen is on top in guard.
McPain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

McPain uses the cage to get back to his feet.

McPain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hansen as he avoids it easily.
Hansen catches McPain with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

McPain is rocked!
Hansen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McPain is still on wobbly legs! Can Hansen finish him?
McPain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McPain looks gassed!

Hansen rushes McPain and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McPain seems to have recovered his senses.
Hansen lands a nice knee to the body.
Hansen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Knees in the clinch landing for Hansen.

Hansen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McPain throws a sloppy head kick
and Hansen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McPain thinking.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hansen swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McPain.
Hansen misses with a straight left.
Hansen misses with a jab, cross combination.
McPain misses with a left hand
and Hansen counters with a low kick, right behind McPain 's knee.

McPain feints and as Hansen raises his hands in defense, McPain changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
McPain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hansen is keeping the position for now.
McPain loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
McPain wants to control from the top but Hansen keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hansen is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McPain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McPain slips nicely into half guard.
McPain controlling the action here.
McPain is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hansen!
McPain looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
McPain raining down shots from the mount!

Hansen wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McPain scores with punches and elbows.
McPain lands punches and elbows.
Hansen avoids the strikes from McPain.
McPain gets his hands free as Hansen looks to control.
Hansen wants to get back to his feet.
McPain loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Hansen hold on?
Hansen grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Hansen is taking damage to the body and head.
McPain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

McPain looking for the RNC.
What can Hansen do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
McPain lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Hansen.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McPain scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Hansen is looking for a way out.
McPain cracks Hansen with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Hansen from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
McPain is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
McPain lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Hansen.
Hansen covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Hansen holding both McPain 's hands and preventing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hansen manages to reverse the position and now he's in McPain's guard. Nice work there by Hansen.
Hansen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joaquin Hansen will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A nice inside leg kick there by Hansen. That's going to slow McPain down.
A combination from Hansen does no damage.
Hansen moves away from the strike by McPain.
Hansen looks to score with a jab to the body but McPain is just out of range.
McPain scores with a nice strike.
McPain bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
McPain scores with a jab.


Hansen is rocked!
A kick lands to the mid section there for McPain.
Oh Hansen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!

McPain lands a huge takedown. Hansen is out but the ref is slow to react and McPain lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Hansen lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew McPain!
