The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toni instigates a clinch.
Toni turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Gotovina is not content to let Toni control the position.
Toni with the ground and pound but Gotovina regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Toni is looking to take a break and control but Gotovina is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Toni jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gotovina walks away with a smile on his face. Toni gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Toni seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gotovina does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Anton Toni hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Gotovina displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Toni.

Toni tried to score with a low kick but Gotovina checks it.

Toni is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gotovina is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Toni to the mat. Toni regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Ante Gotovina overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Toni can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gotovina lands a strong strike to the head of Toni. That's dazed him! Gotovina looking to finish here. Toni is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Gotovina lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
