Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alejandro Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Justin Eaton! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eaton shoots for a double leg takedown but Castro sprawls well. He's pushed Eaton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Eaton avoids the head kick by Castro.
Eaton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Castro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Alejandro Castro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Eaton. Castro tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Eaton counters with a shoot takedown. Castro fights it but they end up in guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Castro is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Castro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Eaton is just riding it out for now. Castro eventually gives up the hold. Castro stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro tries to pass to full mount but Eaton defends it. Castro missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eaton wants to get back to his feet. Eaton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Castro is working away from the top position though. Eaton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Castro prevents Eaton from improving his position. Castro gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eaton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Castro tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eaton was well out of range. Poor timing from Castro. Castro tries to clinch but Eaton is having none of it. Castro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eaton's waist but Eaton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Castro off to one side. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Castro is defended easily by Eaton. Eaton tries to clinch there but Castro circles away.
Castro drives through with a takedown into Eaton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Castro pushing down on Eaton's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Castro there. Castro is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Eaton is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
