PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harper's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Welcome To Jamrock. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Harper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez connects with a body shot that sends Harper's belly button to the back.
Chavez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chavez tries to work over Harper's front leg with a kick but Harper checks it.

Harper has managed to clinch.
Chavez unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Harper looking for a takedown.

Harper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Chavez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harper swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harper is trying to control the position but Chavez postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Harper on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Chavez. Chavez obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Harper on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harper tries to bum rush Chavez with a series of wild strikes but Chavez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Harper slips a jab and a cross from Chavez.

Harper closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Harper takes an elbow to the forehead.
Harper drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chavez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Harper has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Chavez.

Harper moves into range and clinches up with Chavez.
Chavez lands a shot to the body.
Chavez lands a damaging elbow.
Chavez lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Harper wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chavez lands a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chavez lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Chavez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Harper.
Chavez lands a body shot.

Chavez connects with a knee to the head.

Harper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chavez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Chavez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Harper takes a knee right on the jaw!
Chavez gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Chavez obliges.
Harper has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Chavez crunches a lovely knee into Harper's ribcage.
Harper is breathing heavily.
Chavez works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Chavez unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Chavez lands an elbow just above Harper 's eye.
Chavez lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Harper or not.
Chavez tries to land a knee to the head but Harper blocks with his arms.
Chavez scores with a shot to the side of Harper's head.
Chavez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Harper is rocked!
Chavez lands an elbow inside.
Oh Harper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chavez unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Harper! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Chavez is unloading with more strikes now! Harper drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
