PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dusty Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goku Saiyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saiyen has chosen Sevendust - Enemy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Goku Saiyen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dusty Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Goku Saiyen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saiyen tries a head kick but it misses.
Wallace stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wallace wants it to stay on the feet.

Wallace moves into the clinch successfully.
Wallace keeps control of Saiyen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Saiyen tries for a takedown but Wallace manages to get underhooks.
Wallace fails to pull guard.

Saiyen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Saiyen gets caught napping as Wallace dives in and scores a takedown. Saiyen manages to retain guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wallace tries to stand but Saiyen is controlling from the bottom.
Saiyen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wallace is controlling him.

Wallace is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Saiyen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Saiyen has escaped and now he's on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wallace has Saiyen pulled in close to control his posture.
Saiyen trying to control the position from guard on top but Wallace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wallace has control of Saiyen's left arm, preventing Saiyen from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dusty Wallace wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Wallace scores with a one two! Saiyen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Goku Saiyen has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wallace tries to score a power double leg takedown but Saiyen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wallace somewhat.

Wallace moves into range and clinches up with Saiyen.
Saiyen can't get the takedown.
Dusty Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Goku Saiyen.
Saiyen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wallace walks away with a smile on his face. Saiyen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wallace.
Saiyen stops Wallace from passing to mount.

Wallace tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Wallace tries to move to mount but Saiyen blocks the move with his legs.
The referee asks Wallace politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wallace prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Saiyen is trying to improve his position.
Wallace is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Saiyen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wallace sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Saiyen is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Wallace is looking to take a break and control but Saiyen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Saiyen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saiyen seems a little lost for a moment, as Wallace dominates the positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Wallace slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wallace knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Saiyen on the ground.

Saiyen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wallace manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Saiyen has Wallace in his guard.

Wallace seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wallace is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wallace has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Dusty Wallace has been cut.
Saiyen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wallace sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Wallace moves out of range of the body kick from Saiyen.
Wallace shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saiyen sprawls well. Saiyen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wallace gets slowly back to his feet.
Saiyen tries a head kick but it misses.
Dusty Wallace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wallace throws a body punch but Saiyen moves out of range.
Wallace fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wallace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dusty Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Saiyen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wallace.
Saiyen moves in looking to clinch but Wallace pushes him off.
Saiyen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wallace paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Wallace with that takedown attempt.
Saiyen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Wallace's head.
Wallace fails with a takedown attempt.
Saiyen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wallace's waist but Wallace gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Saiyen off to one side.

Saiyen wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Saiyen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wallace shoots in but no luck this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saiyen tries to clinch up but Wallace circles away and keeps his distance.
Wallace avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Goku Saiyen will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Wallace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Saiyen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Wallace isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Saiyen stacks Wallace on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Saiyen!

Saiyen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wallace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Wallace is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Saiyen fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wallace looks to move to half guard but instead Saiyen has passed into mount! Damn!
Saiyen lands a heavy elbow.
Wallace tries to hold on but Saiyen postures up.
Wallace keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wallace is working hard here to advance position.
Wallace tries to hold on but Saiyen pushes him away.
Saiyen scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Saiyen prevents Wallace from getting the reversal.
Saiyen lands a big elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Goku Saiyen.
I think Saiyen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
