Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Drennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin McCork (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drennan's entrance music is Illy-oi!. A fine choice. McCork has chosen Great Balls Of Fire By The Killer Himself as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Drennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Calvin McCork!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCork closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Drennan to the mat! Drennan manages to get full guard.

McCork has gone for a leg lock! Drennan slips out almost immediately though and dives into McCork's guard.

McCork is looking for a triangle but Drennan pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCork had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Drennan defends it easily.
McCork wants to sweep but no luck.
Drennan controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCork looking for a guillotine here but Drennan defends easily.
McCork tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Drennan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Drennan pushing down on McCork's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Drennan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McCork looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Well, if Drennan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McCork tries to roll over but Drennan keeps him under control.

McCork regains full guard. Nicely done.
McCork bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Drennan's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McCork thows a big elbow that misses.

McCork postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

McCork drops back, looking for a kneebar! Drennan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Drennan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Drennan!

McCork pushes Drennan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Drennan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McCork is trying to improve his position.
McCork tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Drennan misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
McCork sneaks back into half guard.
Drennan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McCork is looking to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drennan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Drennan, right into the meat.

McCork bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

McCork decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Drennan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McCork's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McCork's back!

McCork turns into Drennan and is now in his guard.
Drennan looking to hit a scissor sweep but McCork is one step ahead there.

McCork postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Drennan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McCork, into his guard.

McCork is pressing down on Drennan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

McCork has his foot on Drennan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Drennan works his way back into a safe position though.

Calvin McCork showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Drennan throws a leg kick which misses McCork's front leg but catches the back leg as McCork tries to avoid it.
McCork shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCork tries a head kick but it misses.
Drennan lands with a thumping leg kick.
McCork fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Drennan avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck for McCork with that takedown attempt.
Gary Drennan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calvin McCork.

McCork takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McCork has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Drennan.
McCork takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Drennan leaves McCork with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Drennan cracks McCork with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

McCork takes a kick to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drennan connects with a leg kick. McCork looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Drennan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Calvin McCork is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

McCork on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Drennan lands with a kick to the temple. McCork shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

McCork has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Drennan.

Drennan pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McCork fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Drennan lands with a nice body punch.
Drennan misses with a series of wild punches.

Drennan wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McCork takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McCork stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Drennan.
Drennan slaps away a takedown attempt from McCork, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Drennan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
McCork's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Drennan throws a front kick that sends McCork stumbling back into the cage.
A head kick from Drennan lands but McCork takes it in his stride.
Drennan pushes McCork away with a front kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Calvin McCork seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drennan lets loose with a powerful body kick. McCork will feel that in the morning.
Drennan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Drennan cracks McCork with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
McCork closes the distance and clinches up with Drennan, looking for a takedown. McCork pushes Drennan against the cage but Drennan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Drennan misses with a low kick as McCork jumps back.
Drennan scores with a one two! McCork had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


McCork is rocked!
Drennan is looking to wear down McCork with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
McCork fails to land with a series of punches.
McCork is still on wobbly legs! Can Drennan finish him?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drennan throws a sloppy head kick and McCork moves out of range easily.
McCork seems to have recovered his senses.
McCork shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Drennan as he avoids it easily.
Drennan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gary Drennan showed his dominance in that final round.
I think McCork has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
