PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gee Damn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Gimmick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gimmick has chosen Six Feet Under - War Is Coming as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Gimmick!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gimmick slaps away a takedown attempt from Damn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gimmick misses with a two punch combination.
Gimmick misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Damn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A left lands for Damn.
Gimmick thuds a left hand into Damn's body.
Gimmick clobbers Damn with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gimmick ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Damn misses with a hook.
Gimmick turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Damn explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Gimmick takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Damn avoids the body shot from Gimmick.

Gimmick swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Damn slips under a jab.
Damn moves into range and connects with a jab.
Damn misses with a hook. Gimmick ducked under it nicely.
Gimmick on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Damn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gimmick circles away.

Gimmick feints a jab promting Damn to slip. Gimmick then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Damn slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Damn lands a leg kick that knocks Gimmick off balance momentarily.
A telegraphed right hand from Gimmick misses the target.
Damn takes a swing at Gimmick's ribcage but misses.
Gimmick tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Damn was well out of range. Poor timing from Gimmick.
Damn throws a leg kick which misses Gimmick's front leg but catches the back leg as Gimmick tries to avoid it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A shot to the liver by Gimmick. Beautiful body shot.
Gimmick uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Gimmick will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Damn tries to land knees in the clinch but Gimmick avoids the damage to the body.

Damn is trying to drag Gimmick to the mat but Gimmick just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gimmick lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Damn backwards.

Gimmick will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Damn up against the cage.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Gimmick throws a left and a right that both miss
and Damn counters with an inside leg kick.
Gimmick does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gimmick stuns Damn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Damn tries to close the distance and clinch but Gimmick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Damn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Damn misses with a jab to the body
letting Gimmick counter with a right hand.
Damn shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gimmick defends it nicely.
Damn throws a lazy uppercut
and Gimmick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gimmick paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Damn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Justin Gimmick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Damn's corner calls for a 1-2. Damn obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Damn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gimmick sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gimmick pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Damn back to the cage. Gimmick follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Gimmick connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Damn momentarily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gee Damn will probably get the nod.

Gimmick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Damn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Damn wants to control from the top but Gimmick keeps moving.

Damn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gimmick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Damn has managed to get both his arms back between Gimmick's legs - danger averted.

Gimmick wriggles free and stands up.
Gimmick throws a jab when Damn was well out of range.

Damn jabs Gimmick to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Gimmick slips under a jab from Damn.
Damn throws a push kick but Gimmick slaps the foot to one side.
A low kick from Damn is predictable there
and Gimmick counters with a nice low kick that buckles Damn's knee momentarily.
Damn throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Damn misses with a straight right.
Nice defenses there by Gimmick.
Damn takes a swing at Gimmick's ribcage but misses.

Gee Damn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gimmick connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Gimmick wants to slow Damn down by chopping away at his legs.

That was a close round but Gee Damn did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Damn tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gimmick knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Damn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gimmick keeps working.
Damn slows the pace down in half guard.
Damn wants to control but Gimmick is keeping him busy.
Damn landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gimmick wants to improve his position but Damn is controlling well.
Damn not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Gimmick is trying to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Damn connects with a nice short shot to Gimmick's temple.

Gimmick is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Damn is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gimmick can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gee Damn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gimmick wants to hold on but Damn pushes him away.
Damn with the ground and pound from mount.
Damn tries to control but Gimmick wriggling away.
Damn is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gimmick is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Damn lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gimmick is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?
Damn scores with a shot to the side of Gimmick's head.
Damn creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Gimmick with a big uppercut! Gimmick tries to clinch up but Damn pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Gimmick to the mat! Gimmick covers up and Damn unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
