PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Leno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kobra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Leno might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to My Monologue. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Leno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, King Kobra!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leno avoids the head kick by Kobra.
Leno takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like King Kobra has been cut.
Kobra connects with a high kick.
Kobra moves away from the strike by Leno.
Leno rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kobra counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Leno thinking.
Leno misses with a straight right.
Leno misses with a looping right.
Leno keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Leno cracks a nice hook into Kobra's ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leno throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Leno keeps the fight on the outside.
Leno uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kobra.
Leno misses with a straight left.
Leno misses with a body shot.
A big left from Leno misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Leno lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Leno moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Kobra goes down! Can Leno finish him!?
Leno trying to control the position from guard on top but Kobra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kobra looking for a guillotine here but Leno defends easily.

Kobra looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kobra manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leno manages to get himself to full guard.
Leno seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kobra preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kobra content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Leno is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kobra regains full guard. Nicely done.
Leno scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Leno wants to control from the top but Kobra keeps moving.

Kobra had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leno defends it easily.

Kobra is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Leno defends well.
Leno wants to pass the guard but Kobra is keeping the position.

Kobra escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Leno gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kobra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Leno stands and throws Kobra's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That has opened up King Kobra's cut even more.
Leno scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kobra to see if he's OK.
Leno in side control, throwing shots but Kobra defends.
You can see the frustration on Kobra's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kobra is working to avoid the ground and pound but Leno connects with a decent elbow.


The cut above King Kobra's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Leno scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kobra to see if he's OK.


King Kobra's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kobra is looking for a sweep.
Kobra is working to avoid the ground and pound but Leno connects with a decent elbow.
Kobra is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kobra is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kobra tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Leno in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Kobra tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Leno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at King Kobra's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
