PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams's entrance music is Me Against the world. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams gets a double leg takedown into Slice's guard.
Williams has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Williams trying to control but Slice is working from the bottom.

Williams wants to control from the top but Slice keeps moving.

Slice escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Williams is looking to work some ground and pound but Slice has wrist control.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Slice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Slice is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Williams lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Williams gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Slice has his takedown stuffed

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slice on the ground.
Slice looks gassed!
Williams trying to mount his opponent but Slice defends it.
Williams looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slice with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Slice sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Slice is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Williams seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Slice's temple.
Slice wants to improve his position but Williams is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Williams lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Williams lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Slice is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Williams is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Slice can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Slice is in a horrible position here. Williams smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Williams is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Slice to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Slice shrugs it off.

Slice is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Williams has managed to free his arm - good work.
Williams is trying to stand back up but Slice is controlling him
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Williams is trying to escape back to his feet but Slice uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Williams is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Slice is controlling him well.
Williams isn't going anywhere.

Williams is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Slice has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Williams is looking for a sweep.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Slice drags him back down.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Alexander Williams just wasn't active enough.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Slice avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Williams bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Slice takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Williams is working Slice over with some ground and pound from side control.
Williams working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Slice tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Williams wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Slice takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Williams cracks Slice with a big right hand but Slice just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Slice is looking to reverse the position.
Williams looks up at the clock and then as Slice takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Williams smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Williams is working Slice over with some ground and pound from side control.
Williams is putting a hurting on Slice here, landing some big shots from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams is looking to take a break and control but Slice is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Williams cracks Slice with a big right hand but Slice just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Williams creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Slice stops Williams from passing to mount.
Williams trying to control the position but Slice is working away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slice tries to buck Williams off but Williams is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slice gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Slice has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.

Slice has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Williams doesn't defend quickly enough and Slice has managed to lock this one up! Can Williams escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Slice on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kimbo Slice!
