Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ramon Samara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Conner! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A left and a right from Samara both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Jake Conner has been cut. Conner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Samara actively working from the bottom here. Conner wants to take a breather but Samara is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Samara won't allow Conner to pass to mount. It looks like Conner is going to stand back up.
Samara has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Conner is working away from the top position though. Conner is keen to just control but Samara is a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Conner was stalling too much, according to the referee. Samara clinches up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conner has hold of one of Samara's legs. Samara is fighting the takedown attempt but Conner gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Conner wants to control from the top but Samara keeps moving. Conner is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Samara wriggles free and stands up. Conner leaves Samara with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Conner needs to keep his hands up - Samara had a free shot at his head there. Samara misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A jab-cross combination lands for Samara and sends Conner crashing to the mat! Samara follows him down to the mat - Conner regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet! This has been an exciting period of action! Samara is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Samara is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Conner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Samara trying to control the action but Conner is working from the bottom. Conner wants to control but Samara passes into side.
Samara lands some shots froms side control. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Conner is looking for a sweep. Samara taking a breather here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samara changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Conner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Conner is trying to control Samara's posture but Samara avoids it. Samara is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Conner knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Samara controlling the position from side mount. Conner struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Samara thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Conner is looking to reverse the position. You can see the frustration on Conner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Samara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Conner keeps working. Conner can't do much from the bottom here. Samara wants to control but Conner is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conner tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Samara wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Samara grinds an elbow into Conner's temple. Samara throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Conner works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Samara keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Samara is thwarting Conner's attempts to control the position. Samara looks to land a strike but Conner avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conner being controlled here, momentarily. Conner keeping moving, preventing Samara from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ramon Samara. Samara misses with a body kick. Conner just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The fight stays on the outside here - Samara looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Samara shoots in for a takedown but Conner shows good takedown defense. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Conner throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Samara swats away the attempt to clinch by Conner. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ramon Samara dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jake Conner's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Samara stalks Conner and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Conner's face. Conner staggers backwards, shaken. Conner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Samara regains full guard. Nicely done. Samara keeping moving, preventing Conner from controlling successfully. Conner stopping the sweep attempt from Samara. This has been an exciting period of action! Samara is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Samara controls Conner momentarily but Conner frees himself. Conner with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ramon Samara. Conner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Samara on his heels. He'll look to pass Samara's guard now, I'm sure. Samara working a defensive guard here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Conner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Conner wants to control from the top but Samara keeps moving. Conner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Samara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Conner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Conner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Conner content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Samara has locked up a guillotine! Samara's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Conner is holding on here and Samara must be using up a lot of energy. Conner has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Samara gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
