PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Zalinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zalinski is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by We Don't Need Another Hero. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Zalinski! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zalinski jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Punch feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Zalinski controls Punch momentarily but Punch frees himself. Zalinski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Zalinski looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Zalinski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Punch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Zalinski is tightening it up a little... Punch has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Punch reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Punch taps out! Nice BJJ there by Zalinski!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Ray Zalinski!
