Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kris Kringle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kris Kringle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson shoots in and drives through. Kringle sprawls well. Kringle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Nelson trying to hold on to Kringle's head to control him but Kringle postures up.
Kringle is looking to pass Nelson's guard but actually Nelson recovers to full guard. Kringle throwing strikes but missing. Nelson is looking to sweep but instead, Kringle has passed into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kringle working the head and body with strikes. Nelson is staying active underneath Kringle, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kringle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nelson's head. Kringle looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Nelson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kringle. Nelson is looking for a sweep. Kringle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson has hold of Kringle's hands but Kringle slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nelson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kringle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kringle drops an elbow to the side of Nelson's head. Kringle is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nelson reverses the position - he's now on top in Kringle's guard. Nelson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kringle has a closed guard, preventing Nelson from standing up. Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kringle swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nelson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kringle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kringle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kringle! Nelson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kringle wants to take a breather but Nelson is having none of it. Kringle works his way into side control. Nelson is not content to let Kringle control the position. Nelson is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kringle in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Kringle is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Kringle is trying to ground and pound but Nelson uses the momentary lack of control by Kringle to regain half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kringle stalling. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kringle closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nelson quickly recovers to half guard. Kringle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kringle sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nelson defending well though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kringle is trying to control. Nelson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Nelson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kringle. Kringle throwing shots but Nelson is blocking nicely. Kringle throws a strike but Nelson avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Kringle trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kringle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kringle is fighting to break Nelson's control of his arms but Nelson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Nelson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Kringle tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard. Kringle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kringle throws and elbow that misses. Nelson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kringle's guard. Nelson stands up from Kringle's guard - Nelson perhaps looking for a knockout. Kringle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kringle defends well. Kringle throws and elbow that misses. Nelson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kringle's guard. Nice move by Nelson!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kringle is looking to stand up but Nelson isn't so interested in that idea. Kringle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nelson escapes and throws Kringle's legs to the side, diving into side control! Nelson trying to control the action but Kringle is working from the bottom. Kringle is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kringle sees it coming and defends easily. Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kringle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Kris Kringle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nelson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Kringle as he works his way to full guard.
Kringle is working an open guard so Nelson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nelson has his takedown stuffed and Kringle counters with a takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kringle working the ground and pound but Nelson is defending the strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kris Kringle dominated that second round. That's time! Kringle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Kringle rushes Nelson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Nelson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Nelson trying to move into half guard but instead Kringle has managed to sweep! Kringle wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Kringle postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kringle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nelson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Kringle is looking to advance position but Nelson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Nelson controlling from the full mount. Nelson stands up from mount. Strange move. Kringle scores with a takedown into Nelson's guard. Nelson has a closed guard, preventing Kringle from standing up. Kringle preventing the sweep.

Kringle wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Kringle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nelson misses with a double jab
and Kringle counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kringle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nelson. Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kringle looking to score a takedown here. Nelson is defending well but Kringle drives through and ends up in Nelson's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kringle throwing strikes but missing. Kringle throws and elbow that misses. Nelson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kringle's guard. Nice move by Nelson! Nelson wants to get up but he can't break Kringle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Nelson trying to control but Kringle is working from the bottom. Kringle tries to strike from the bottom.
Kringle throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Nelson stands up and waves to Kringle to follow him. Kris Kringle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kringle stuffs the takedown attempt from Nelson. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet. Nelson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kringle defends it nicely. Kris Kringle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Nelson. Kringle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Roy Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nelson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kringle trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nelson's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kringle looking to sit in guard and control but Nelson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kris Kringle. Well Kringle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
