Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nose Goose! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Bigham! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goose shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bigham manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Goose postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Goose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bigham swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bigham tries to land a sweep but no joy. Goose tries to free his leg and advance position but Bigham is retaining full guard. Goose throwing strikes from guard but Bigham blocks nicely. Bigham tries to land a sweep but no joy. Goose lands a couple of elbows. Bigham working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Goose. Bigham working for a triangle but Goose defends it easily.
Bigham is trying to keep Goose in close.
Goose might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goose landing some decent shots from guard. Goose trying to control but Bigham is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Goose is looking to work some ground and pound but Bigham has wrist control. Bigham utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bigham holds on and takes a little breather. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goose working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Goose advances to half guard. Goose not landing any meaningful shots this time. Bigham is trying to stand up here but Goose is controlling him well. Bigham avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Goose. Goose thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goose sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bigham defending well though. Bigham tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Goose working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Goose is trying to control the action in half guard but Bigham is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Bigham is trying to control but can't.

Goose working over Bigham with some ground and pound. Bigham looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Goose looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bigham with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Goose wants to take a breather but Bigham is having none of it. Goose winds up and cracks Bigham with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Bigham taking some punishment here, with Goose in his half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bigham gets full guard. Bigham looks gassed! Goose trying to control but Bigham is working from the bottom. Goose content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Bigham wants to sweep but no luck. Bigham utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Bigham tries to strike from the bottom.
Bigham is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Goose defends well. Goose trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bigham can't keep his opponent in guard - Goose advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Bigham is looking to control Goose's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bigham avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goose wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bigham keeps working. Goose slips a nice elbow through Bigham's hands, connecting with Bigham's forehead. Goose seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Goose thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Goose has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Goose looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bigham with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bigham can do anything to dispel that myth. Goose takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Bigham trying to control but Goose postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Goose not landing any meaningful shots this time. Bigham wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nose Goose dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Goose closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Goose in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Goose throws an elbow but Bigham slips to the side and avoids it well. You can see the frustration on Bigham's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nose Goose overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Bigham is trying to get back to half guard. Goose lands a nice forearm strike. Bigham tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goose wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Goose throws a strike aimed at the side of Bigham's head but Bigham avoids it well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Goose creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Goose landing a few strikes. Bigham is breathing heavily. Goose is working Bigham over with some ground and pound from side control.
Bigham is rocked! Goose in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Bigham looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Goose turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
