PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Relentless AD (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slater Lowman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Relentless AD! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slater Lowman! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.

AD shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. AD showed some decent athleticism there. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. AD missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
AD is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lowman is just riding it out for now. AD eventually gives up the hold. Lowman is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
AD decides to stand up. Lowman throws a series of punches but AD moves out of range. Lowman throws a poor cross that misses
and AD counters with a thumping low kick. AD shoots in but Lowman avoids the takedown attempt easily. AD throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

AD closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. AD lands strikes from half guard. AD has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lowman is refusing to be controlled, as AD sits in half guard. Lowman wants to control but AD is keeping busy and won't allow it.
AD is working for a submission of some sort.
Lowman is looking for a sweep. AD is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. AD stops Lowman from getting back to his feet.

AD looks to score some points with some ground and pound. AD wants to pass the guard but Lowman is defending well. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
AD is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lowman sees it coming and defends easily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lowman is refusing to be controlled, as AD sits in half guard. Lowman has hold of AD's hands but AD slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. AD landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lowman trying to control from the bottom.

AD seems to be looking for submissions.
Lowman is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. AD works his way into full mount! Lowman keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

AD is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lowman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lowman shrugs it off.

AD get's back to his feet. AD doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. AD misses with a series of wild punches.
AD thumps Lowman with a low kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lowman fails with the takedown. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. AD shoots in for a takedown but Lowman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
AD darts in and clinches Lowman up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Relentless AD dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
No joy there for AD, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
AD keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A telegraphed right hand from Lowman misses the target.
AD dives in and scores a takedown into Lowman's guard. AD wants to control from the top but Lowman keeps moving.
AD is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
AD drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lowman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lowman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lowman! AD defending against the ground and pound.

Lowman is putting a hurting on AD here, landing some big shots from side control. AD manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. AD blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lowman. AD is looking to control Lowman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can AD avoid being mounted? Lowman throws a strike but AD avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Lowman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lowman wants to stand but AD has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lowman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and AD dives on top into guard.

AD drops back looking for a leg! Lowman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lowman manages to kick AD off! AD jumps back into Lowman's guard. AD trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Lowman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
AD stands up and waves to Lowman to follow him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lowman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

AD closes the distance and clinches.
AD has hold of one of Lowman's legs. Lowman is fighting the takedown attempt but AD gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Lowman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with AD. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. AD trying to control the position from guard on top but Lowman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lowman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lowman is controlling AD's posture. AD trying to control the position from guard on top but Lowman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. AD won't allow Lowman to get back to his feet.
AD thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. AD working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

AD throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lowman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. AD is in Lowman's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. AD wants to control from the top but Lowman keeps moving. Lowman is looking to stand up but AD isn't so interested in that idea.
AD is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lowman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lowman has escaped and now he's on top! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Relentless AD dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Lowman jabs AD right on the nose. AD blinks but takes it well. AD misses with a head kick.
AD fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lowman, pushing him back against the cage. Lowman tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
AD tries to pull guard but Lowman won't allow it.
Lowman throws a knee to the head but misses.
AD changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lowman fights it off and pushes away nicely.
AD shoots for a takedown but Lowman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Relentless AD. That's going to take a lot out of him.

AD moves into the clinch. AD has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lowman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. AD can't get the takedown.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. A nice left hand lands by Lowman.
Lowman tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Lowman is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
AD tries for a takedown but Lowman manages to get underhooks.
AD tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lowman smiles and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lowman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

It looks like Relentless AD has been cut. Lowman takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lowman lands with a straight right. AD didn't see that one coming. AD pulls out of a head kick attempt.

AD tries to circle away but Lowman has him pinned against the cage.
Lowman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lowman lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lowman misses with a two punch combination.
Lowman moves into the clinch. AD has Lowman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lowman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Lowman using the Thai plumb to throw knees but AD has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
AD wants a takedown.

Lowman wants to break free but AD has control.
Lowman lands a hook that snaps the head of AD backwards. Lowman throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but AD blocks it with crossed arms.

Lowman is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. AD is defending well for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
AD lands a takedown into guard.
AD decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lowman, up you get! Lowman scores with a leg kick.
AD fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Slater Lowman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Slater Lowman seems to be getting the better of the standup. Lowman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
AD forces Lowman back against the cage and clinches. Relentless AD is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
AD pulls guard successfully.
AD working for a triangle but Lowman defends it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Slater Lowman. I think AD has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
