Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elias James Corey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corey's entrance music is Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bad Moon Rising. A fine choice. Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. In The Morning kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mike Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elias James Corey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Smith!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corey misses with an uppercut
and Smith counters with a solid body kick.
Smith lands a head kick!
Smith throws a body kick that misses.
Nice body punch from Smith.
Smith throws a leg kick which misses Corey's front leg but catches the back leg as Corey tries to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Corey avoids the body shot from Smith.
Smith scores with a jab to the body.
Smith moves out of range as Corey strikes.
Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.
An inside leg kick from Smith misses.
Smith thuds his shin into the meat of Corey's side.
Corey is breathing heavily.
Smith with a hook.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Corey tries to move into range but Smith moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Corey crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Smith - the referee stops the clock and Corey gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Smith. Corey manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Corey's calf.
Smith's jab looks to have found its range, popping Corey under the eye.
Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Corey off balance momentarily.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Good leg kick by Smith there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Corey takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Corey takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Smith fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Corey is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Corey misses with an uppercut
and Smith counters with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Corey. Corey circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Smith works over Corey's head and body with a nice combination.
Smith punishes Corey's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Smith throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Corey off balance momentarily.
Smith throws a nice outside leg kick.
Corey on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Smith misses the shot to the body.
Smith throws a front kick that sends Corey stumbling back into the cage.
Smith throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Corey is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A thudding body kick lands there by Smith!
Corey will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Smith lands with an uppercut that bounces Corey off the cage and back into rage.
Smith clobbers Corey with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Corey is rocked!
Corey swings away with a body shot that misses
and Smith scores with a counter punch that sends Corey to the canvas! Smith smells blood - he's punishing Corey with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Corey has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Smith!
