PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cowboy Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kanrosch Timoshenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kanrosch Timoshenko told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cowboy Henry!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kanrosch Timoshenko!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry tries for a takedown but Timoshenko circles away easily
and Timoshenko counters with a straight right hand.
Timoshenko avoids the body shot from Henry.
Henry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Timoshenko pinned against the cage. Timoshenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Timoshenko connects with a right hand. Henry shakes it off.

and Henry takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cowboy Henry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Henry throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Timoshenko was covering up waiting for the punch and Henry finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Timoshenko can do anything to dispel that myth.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Henry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Henry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kanrosch Timoshenko wasn't active enough on the ground.

Henry shoots in looking for a takedown but Timoshenko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Henry's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cowboy Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Henry thuds his right hand into Timoshenko's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Henry shoots in for a takedown but Timoshenko shows good takedown defense.
Henry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Timoshenko goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Timoshenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Timoshenko misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Timoshenko slips a straight right by Henry.
Henry bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Henry throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Timoshenko sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Timoshenko. No joy for Henry on that attempt.
Timoshenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Henry moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Henry shoots and misses
and Timoshenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Henry lands with a straight right. Timoshenko didn't see that one coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cowboy Henry dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Henry throws a hook but Timoshenko avoids it easily.
Henry scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like Kanrosch Timoshenko has been cut.

and Timoshenko counters with a stiff right hand.
Henry shoots in for a double leg but Timoshenko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Timoshenko looks to score with a jab to the body but Henry is just out of range.

Timoshenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Timoshenko is on top in guard.

Timoshenko wants to pass the guard but Henry is keeping the position.
Cowboy Henry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Henry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Henry is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Timoshenko is hurt! He's hurt bad - Henry fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Timoshenko from any more punishment! Congratulations to Henry! Great finish!
