The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaney will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Onimusha closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Chaney wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Onimusha scoring with punches and elbows. Onimusha is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chaney is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Onimusha is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chaney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Onimusha is putting a hurting on Chaney here, landing some big shots from side control. Onimusha creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Onimusha in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Onimusha working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Chaney on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Onimusha tries to move to mount but Chaney blocks the move with his legs. Chaney is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Onimusha shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Chaney counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Onimusha is breathing heavily. Onimusha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chaney doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chaney manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Chaney slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Chaney advances nicely into full mount. Chaney lands with some strikes. Chaney is standing up, even though he is in mount. Chaney looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Chaney must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chaney tries to stand but Onimusha is controlling from the bottom. Onimusha throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Chaney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Onimusha trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Onimusha had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Chaney is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Onimusha Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Chaney's back instead. Onimusha working for a choke but Chaney is defending well. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Onimusha throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Chaney!
Chaney looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Onimusha scores with punches from the back.

Onimusha lands strikes to the head. Onimusha looking to break Chaney's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Chaney remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Onimusha will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Chaney is trying to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chaney looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Onimusha lands shots from the back. Can Chaney hold on?! Onimusha is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
