PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Butterworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Pede (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Stan Pede was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Butterworth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stan Pede!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butterworth shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Butterworth trying to control but Pede is having none of it.
Butterworth throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Pede because Butterworth loaded up on that one.
Pede tries to hold on but Butterworth pushes him away.
Pede is squirming around, avoiding Butterworth's attempts to control the action.
Pede holds on to Butterworth as tight as he can, avoiding damage.
Butterworth tries to control but Pede wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pede can't escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Butterworth wants to control the pace but Pede is squirming around nicely.
Pede working to try and regain half guard.
Pede wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Butterworth.
Butterworth trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pede can't escape the position.

Butterworth working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Pede wants to control but Butterworth is having none of it.

Pede doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
A nice elbow there by Butterworth.
Pede wants to hold on but Butterworth pushes him away.
Pede is squirming around, avoiding Butterworth's attempts to control the action.

Pede manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Pede regains full guard. Nicely done.
Butterworth landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pede is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Butterworth tries to free his leg and advance position but Pede is retaining full guard.
Butterworth postures up.
Butterworth wants to pass the guard but Pede is keeping the position.
Pede looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Butterworth wants to control from the top but Pede keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pede looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Butterworth dominated that round.
That's time! Butterworth's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Butterworth closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pede did well to prevent Butterworth getting side control.
Butterworth not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Butterworth wants to take a breather but Pede is having none of it.
Butterworth looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Butterworth tries to pass to full mount but Pede defends it.
Pede moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pede is on top in guard.

Butterworth wants to sweep but no luck.

Pede drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pede jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pede pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Butterworth is keeping the position for now.

Pede drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Butterworth manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pede has Butterworth in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pede working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Butterworth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Pede is tightening it up a little... Butterworth has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Butterworth reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Butterworth taps out! Nice BJJ there by Pede!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Stan Pede!
