Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tristan David! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tdk Spark! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! David shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. David is taking a breather. Spark says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. David throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. David is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Spark tries to get to full guard but David has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spark moves into full guard.
David not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spark keeping moving, preventing David from controlling successfully. David pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spark is keeping the position for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tristan David wasn't doing enough on the ground. Spark throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Tristan David has been cut. David fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spark sprawls well initially but David persists and gets the takedown into half guard. David not landing any meaningful shots this time. David is pressing down on Spark's thigh, looking to free his foot. Spark is holding on for now. David is trying to control. Spark wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Spark controlling the position for now. David looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. David seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. David's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tristan David. Spark throws a wild combination but nothing lands. David gets caught napping as Spark dives in and scores a takedown. David manages to retain guard. David looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. David moves out of range of the body kick from Spark.
Spark connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt David! He's out on his feet! Spark rushes in and drops David with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tdk Spark! Tdk Spark very nearly forgot to thank Canuck Beavermeat Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
