Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Pablo Batallir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kirk Digman! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batallir shoots for a takedown but Digman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Batallir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Digman sprawls well. Digman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Batallir gets slowly back to his feet. Digman tries to keep at a distance but Batallir has taken the fight into the clinch. Digman being controlled against the cage. Batallir keeps control of Digman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Digman looking to stall.
Digman is trying to force a seperation but Batallir has the dominant position. Batallir prevents Digman from breaking the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Digman being controlled against the cage. Batallir changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Digman fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Pablo Batallir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Batallir lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Batallir is breathing heavily. Digman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Digman tries a head kick but it misses.
Digman slaps away a takedown attempt from Batallir, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kirk Digman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Digman throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Batallir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Digman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Digman throws a wild body kick that Batallir sees coming a mile off. Batallir keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Digman. Digman throws a combination. Batallir tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Batallir circles away from the clinch attempt and Batallir counters with a big head kick but Digman shrugs it off. Batallir moves out of range of the leg kick from Digman.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batallir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Digman paws at him with a jab and circles away. Digman connects with a single shot there. Digman lands with a hook. Batallir tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Batallir scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Batallir is controlling the pace.
Digman is refusing to be controlled, as Batallir sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Digman gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Digman is on top in guard.
Digman trying to control the position from guard on top but Batallir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Digman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Digman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kirk Digman will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Digman swings for the body but Batallir moves out of range.
Batallir ducks right into an uppercut from Digman. Digman tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Batallir holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Digman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Batallir manages to pull guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Batallir throws a nice elbow from the bottom. Batallir preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Digman trying to control but Batallir is working from the bottom. Batallir has his foot on Digman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Digman works his way back into a safe position though. Digman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Digman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Digman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Batallir kicks Digman off and gets to his feet. Digman throws a head kick but Batallir moves out of range.
Batallir tries to bum rush Digman with a series of wild strikes but Digman uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Digman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Batallir shoots in for a takedown but Digman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Digman is looking to slow Batallir down with leg kicks. Digman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Batallir shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Digman as he avoids it easily. Digman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Digman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Batallir circles away quickly and effectively.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batallir takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Digman throws a left and a right that both miss
so Batallir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Digman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Batallir controls the pace. Batallir looking to sit in guard and control but Digman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Digman trying to control the position from guard on top but Batallir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Batallir throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Batallir has a closed guard, preventing Digman from standing up. Batallir looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Digman is pushing down on Batallir's leg trying to pass to half guard. Batallir is fighting to maintain full guard but Digman has managed to sneak the leg through. This has been an exciting period of action! Digman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Juan Pablo Batallir will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Batallir fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Digman thows a leg kick but Batallir checks it enabling Batallir to counter with a crisp jab. Batallir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Digman is fending him off so far but Batallir persists. Nope, Digman circles away and we're back to standing. Digman tries to clinch up. Batallir takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Digman throws a series of punches but Batallir avoids them all with ease. A combination from Digman does no damage. Juan Pablo Batallir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Digman looks to land a left hand but Batallir moved out of range nicely. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Digman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Batallir. Kirk Digman seems to be getting the better of the standup. Digman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Digman throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Batallir looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Digman swings for the body but Batallir moves out of range.
Digman works over Batallir's head and body with a nice combination. Batallir moves into range and clinches up with Digman. Digman is trying to break the clinch but Batallir is controlling him. Batallir pressing his opponent against the cage. Batallir is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Digman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Digman struggles to land a body shot inside as Batallir controls his hands.
Batallir prevents Digman from breaking the clinch. Batallir manages to break the clinch.
Digman throws a jab when Batallir was well out of range. A chopping leg kick lands by Digman. Batallir has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Digman. Digman comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Batallir misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Digman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Digman misses with a wild body shot. Batallir misses with a few strikes there.
Digman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Batallir. Batallir avoids the body shot from Digman.
Batallir dives in and grabs Digman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Digman pushes down on Batallir's head and hops out. Digman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Batallir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Digman swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight stays on the outside here - Batallir looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Batallir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Digman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! Kirk Digman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Digman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
