The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bruisester scores a takedown into full mount!

Bruisester looking for a guillotine from mount but Cohen is having none of it.
Cohen is desperately trying to improve his position but Bruisester has a good base and remains in mount.
Bruisester trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bruisester controlling the pace for now.

Bruisester is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cohen is surviving well by controlling Bruisester's body position as best he can.

Bruisester is keen to just control but Cohen is a slippery customer.
Cohen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bruisester scores with a couple of nice shots.

Cohen is defending against the submission attempts here by Bruisester.
Bruisester throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cohen gets full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cohen keeping moving, preventing Bruisester from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Bruisester counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cohen won't be happy with that.

Cohen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bruisester perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bruisester wants to stand but Cohen has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Cohen misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Cohen is trying to get back to full guard.

Cohen looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Cohen tries to roll over but Bruisester keeps him under control.

Bruisester seems to be looking for submissions.
Cohen moves into full guard.
Cohen is trying to keep Bruisester in close.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cohen misses with a takedown attempt

and Bruisester counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cohen!
Cohen bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Cohen wants to control from the top but Bruisester keeps moving.
Cohen passes Bruisester's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bruisester is staying active underneath Cohen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bruisester keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Bruisester moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bruisester is on top in guard.
Bruisester passes Cohen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bruisester takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bruisester's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Bruisester moves nicely into side control.

Cohen tries to buck Bruisester off but Bruisester is having none of it.

Bruisester is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cohen looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bruisester gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cohen is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bruisester lets go of the hold and Cohen can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rodney Bruisester!
