The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kovalov looking to score a takedown here. Morgan is defending well but Kovalov drives through and ends up in Morgan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Morgan counters with a big head kick but Kovalov shrugs it off.
Kovalov swings for the body but Morgan moves out of range.

Kovalov checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Kovalov throws a quick inside leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Morgan.
Morgan misses with a head kick.
Morgan wants to clinch
and Kovalov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Morgan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kovalov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dexter Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morgan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kovalov throws out the jab.
Nice takedown defense from Morgan. No joy for Kovalov on that attempt.

Morgan is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kovalov rolls with it to try and escape but Morgan cranks on the arm and Kovalov is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
