Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kaine Abelsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Marquardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquardt is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Welcome to the TerrorDome. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jericho Marquardt!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquardt tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Marquardt misses with a combination
enabling Abelsons to counter with a crisp jab.

Marquardt closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Abelsons's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Abelsons preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Marquardt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Marquardt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Abelsons scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Marquardt misses with a leg kick
and Abelsons counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Abelsons jabs Marquardt right on the nose. Marquardt blinks but takes it well.
Marquardt wants to land a leg kick but Abelsons is out of range.

Marquardt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Abelsons manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Marquardt looking to sit in guard and control but Abelsons gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Abelsons slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Marquardt is looking for a triangle here but Abelsons uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Marquardt tries to buck Abelsons off but Abelsons is having none of it.
Marquardt is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Abelsons is staying tight to Marquardt's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marquardt looks to land a body kick but Abelsons moved away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Abelsons enables Marquardt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Abelsons manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Abelsons moves out of range of the body kick from Marquardt.
Marquardt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

A chopping leg kick lands by Abelsons.
Marquardt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abelsons sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Marquardt somewhat.

Jericho Marquardt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick by Marquardt misses
and Abelsons counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Marquardt does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Marquardt moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Marquardt rushes Abelsons and presses him up against the cage.
Abelsons blocks an elbow strike from Marquardt.
Abelsons blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Abelsons stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Marquardt misses with an elbow strike.
Marquardt is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Abelsons presses Marquardt against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Marquardt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Abelsons gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Marquardt is breathing heavily.
Abelsons misses with a hook from the clinch.
Marquardt misses with an elbow strike.
Abelsons is trying to break free.

Marquardt jumps guard and drags Abelsons to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Abelsons decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marquardt, up you get!

Abelsons throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marquardt doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Abelsons counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kaine Abelsons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jericho Marquardt.
Marquardt shoots in and drives through. Abelsons sprawls well.

Marquardt is rocked!

Abelsons lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Marquardt is still on wobbly legs! Can Abelsons finish him?
Abelsons throws a nice outside leg kick.
Abelsons connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Marquardt walks straight into a right hand from Abelsons - that's dropped him! Abelsons jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Marquardt from any more punishment! Marquardt complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
