PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Pin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pin's entrance music is It's A Fight - Three 6 Mafia. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Pin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Martin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pin enables Martin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Martin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Martin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Pin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frank Martin.

Martin feints a jab promting Pin to slip. Martin then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Pin throws a wild body kick that Martin sees coming a mile off.

Martin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pin is trying to defend but Martin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Martin is taking a breather. Pin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Pin is staying active underneath Martin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Martin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pin defends it well.

Martin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Martin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Martin.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Martin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Martin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pin.
Martin closes the distance and clinches up with Pin, looking for a takedown. Martin pushes Pin against the cage but Pin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Frank Martin has been cut.
Pin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Martin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pin takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Martin blocks the body kick.
Martin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pin on the side of the head.
Pin tries to land a front kick but Martin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Martin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Randy Pin has been cut.

Martin pushes Pin up against the cage in a clinch.
Pin tries to throw a body punch but Martin avoids it by throwing Pin back against the cage.
Pin tries to break the clinch but Martin is controlling the position.

Martin misses with a body punch.
Martin will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Pin up against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Martin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Pin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Martin has him pressed against the cage.
Martin is struggling to control the position.
Martin continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

A short body shot lands from Martin as the two fighters clinch.

Pin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Pin can't find room to land a body shot as Martin controls the action.

Pin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Randy Pin will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Martin, as that shot connected.
Pin scores with a nice right hand.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pin.
Martin scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Frank Martin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Pin takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Martin lands the left hand.
Pin is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Pin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Martin will feel that in the morning.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Martin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Martin throws an overhand right that lands on Pin's shoulder, as Pin tries to avoid the shot.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pin, right into the meat.

Martin lunges at Pin with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pin's hand.

Randy Pin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Martin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though.
Martin is trying to control the action in half guard but Pin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Martin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Frank Martin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Martin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
