Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Grady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Riley!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grady closes the distance and clinches up with Riley, looking for a takedown. Grady pushes Riley against the cage but Riley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Grady drives through and clinches with Riley against the cage.
Riley drops down looking for an ankle pick but Grady pulls his leg out and moves away.
Riley fails with a takedown attempt.
Riley takes a kick to the side of the head.
Grady changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Riley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Grady is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Riley has escaped the position, nice work there.
Riley is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Grady is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Grady tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Riley is looking to get back to his feet here but Grady is keeping cool and he's managed to take Riley's back.
Riley is trying to shake Grady off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Grady won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grady fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Grady shoots in looking for a takedown. Riley tries to sprawl out of it but Grady keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Riley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Grady. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grady misses with a takedown attempt - Riley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Riley slaps away a takedown attempt from Grady, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Riley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Riley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Grady is breathing heavily.
Riley lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grady can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riley is landing with some decent strikes but Grady is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The referee warns Grady that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Riley lands a big shot to the head and Grady winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). James Riley!
