PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kasper Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Cho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kessler comes to the cage accompanied by Black Eyed Peas - I Got A Feeling. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kasper Kessler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerry Cho!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cho lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kessler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cho's waist but Cho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kessler off to one side.
Kessler misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cho.
Kessler lands with a hook. Cho tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cho thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kessler gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Kessler takes a swing at Cho's ribcage but misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cho darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cho lands a lovely overhand right.
Cho tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cho looks to score with a jab to the body but Kessler is just out of range.
Cho displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kessler throws out the jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kessler comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Kessler shoots in and drives through. Cho sprawls well.

Cho throws a series of punches but Kessler moves out of range.
Cho looks to land a left hand but Kessler moved out of range nicely.

Kessler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cho did well to prevent Kessler getting side control.
Kessler looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kessler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cho for as long as he can get away with.

Kessler is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cho looks like he's trying to stand up.

Kessler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Kessler seems to be looking for submissions.
Cho is staying active underneath Kessler, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cho tries to kick Kessler off but Kessler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kessler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

You get the feeling that Cho really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kessler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Cho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kessler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kessler has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cho's face.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kessler misses with a low kick.
Kessler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cho manages to avoid it.
Cho misses with a two punch combination.
Kessler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cho moves away.
Kessler fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cho.
Kessler uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cho.
Kessler misses with a low kick as Cho jumps back.

Kessler throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cho was covering up waiting for the punch and Kessler finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cho wants to stand up but Kessler is controlling him.

Kessler is stalling in the full guard.
Cho is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Cho tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kessler was well out of range. Poor timing from Cho.
Cho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kessler is looking to wear down Cho with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Kessler thumps Cho with a low kick.
Cho throws a right and a left that Kessler avoids nicely.
Cho throws out a loose jab but Kessler uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Kessler counters with a leg kick.
Kessler moves away from the strike by Cho.
Cho looks to land a combination but Kessler avoids it well.
Cho on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cho tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kessler was well out of range. Poor timing from Cho.
Jerry Cho is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Cho. Those never looked like landing.

Kessler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cho manages to avoid it.
Cho takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jerry Cho is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kessler looks to land a combination but Cho avoids it well.
Cho takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Cho throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kessler dodges the punch combination from Cho.
Cho throws a body kick that misses.
Kessler is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Cho.
Kessler shoots in for a takedown but Cho shows good takedown defense.
Kessler slips a jab and a cross from Cho.
Cho doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cho misses with a head kick.
Kessler dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cho. That did some damage!
Cho is breathing heavily.
Kessler digs a good hook to Cho's body.
Kessler throws a nice outside leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cho throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kessler lands a nice hook to Cho's body. Cho takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Horrible takedown by Kessler or perhaps it was just good defense by Cho which made him look bad.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kessler looks to land a combination but Cho avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Kessler closes the distance and clinches up with Cho, looking for a takedown. Kessler pushes Cho against the cage but Cho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cho swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cho takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kessler throws a series of strikes that have Cho backpedaling.
Cho on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kessler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cho sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kessler fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cho on the side of the head.
Cho throws a series of strikes that have Kessler backpedaling.
A left lands for Kessler.
Kessler steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cho.
Kessler wants to slow Cho down by chopping away at his legs.

Kessler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cho looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kasper Kessler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kessler slips a nice elbow through Cho's hands, connecting with Cho's forehead.

Cho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kessler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cho is trying to stand.
Kessler uses his free foot to push down on Cho's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cho.
Kessler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cho is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kessler wants to finish this one by submission but Cho is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kessler.

You get the feeling that Cho really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That has opened up Jerry Cho's cut even more.
The referee warns Cho that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Cho is bucking up trying to escape but Kessler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Jerry Cho's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jerry Cho's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kasper Kessler!
